It is too scary to give up these behaviors that have kept you safe.
And yet, if you continue to throw up or diet or over eat, you will damage your body and continue to feel all alone in it all.
My name is Julia, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) at Spilove Psychotherapy. I want you to know that I understand how challenging it is to break free from these patterns and reconnect with your true self and I can help you.
As an online eating disorder therapist in Philadelphia and New Jersey, I understand that restrictive eating, binging, purging, and body obsession can often serve as ways to manage the unmanageable, such as early trauma, fear, anxiety, and shame. I also recognize the impact of diet culture and our fat-phobic world on individuals struggling with disordered eating and body image issues.
Yet, I firmly believe that change is possible, and I have the expertise to guide you towards your uniquely vibrant, enriched life.
Drawing from the therapeutic approaches of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and mindfulness-based approaches, I will support you in understanding and healing the ways these patterns have manifested in your life. Together, we can unravel the intricate dynamics and roles that restriction, binging, purging, and body obsession play within you.
In our sessions, we will collaborate to challenge and explore the different parts that exist within you. By befriending and understanding each part, we will work towards reclaiming the driver's seat of your emotions, thoughts, and feelings. As we navigate this journey, my goal is to help you find joy again, to reignite your passions, and to strengthen your sense of self.
