Parent Coaching

You struggle to set boundaries with your child.

You know your child has big emotions and it has been a challenge to manage your child’s emotional responses.

Maybe you struggle to communicate effectively with your child.

Perhaps, you have skills in your parenting toolbox that have worked for one child, but they do not seem to be effective for the other.

You are struggling with parenting your child, which has made you question your competence to be a parent and decreased your self-confidence all together. You have lost sight of what you loved about being a parent and that has made you feel anxious. All you know is that you love your child, and you want to be the best parent you can be, but you are struggling and unsure of how to find a path forward.  What you know for certain, is that you need new skills to help your child and meet your child where they are, and I know how to help! I am a child therapist that provides parent coaching.

As a parent coach, I will provide space to empower you as the parent so that you can not only heal but thrive!

Together, we will reset the foundation by taking space to not only unpack and normalize the questions you have about parenting but learn new skills and interventions that you can utilize with your child in the present moment that will make you feel more competent and grow your self-confidence as a parent. Through a kind, compassionate and safe environment we will be able to eliminate power struggles between you and your child, increase effective communication skills, implement mindful parenting skills, and strengthen the connection between you and your child. Ultimately, in our work together we will once again find the ‘why’ in why you love being a parent and find joy in the amazing child that you are raising!

Helping with Temper Tantrums

Your child is not listening.

They are constantly tantruming and talking back to you.

You didn’t know it was possible to love them and feel so frustrated at the same time.

You don’t want to yell or scold, but you can’t figure out how to help them and get them to listen.

You’ve tried everything and they are still not responding to you.

If you don’t get help, they could hurt themselves during a tantrum, you worry you might emotionally damage them or you’ll feel like a failure as a parent. I can help you learn you can be mad at your child and love them at the same time. Did you know that tantruming is age appropriate? Some children skip tantruming completely, but it's essential in maturation and healthy development. Let's work together to help your child work through and complete this stage! I focus on teaching you how to use your ‘I mean it voice,’ hear your child, validate their feelings and strengthen your attachment. I can also provide tools to help you therapeutically repair challenging moments after tantrums.

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) & Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

I am trained to help children develop executive functioning skills to increase their overall functioning. I help children with their attention span, remembering instructions, multi-tasking, prioritizing tasks, controlling impulses, regulating emotions, coping with transitions and eliminating distractions. Is homework really challenging? Let's work together to help your child develop the tools they need to make homework manageable.

Autism, Intellectual Disabilities & Learning Disabilities

As an Autism Specialist, I have experience working with children across the Autism Spectrum. I also work with children who have a variety of disabilities. My focus is to help children increase functional communication/self regulation skills, express their feelings, develop coping strategies as well as work on their social skills. I aim to guide parents and children to understand the diagnosis so that we prevent it from limiting an individual's unlimited potential. By aiding children in building their confidence, I help them work through any shame related to their disability.

Behavioral Challenges in Children

As a behavioral specialist, I have experience in working with and supporting children with severe behavioral challenges. I specialize in teaching parents how to give their child some control and eliminate power struggles. This includes teaching children how to express their anger in a safe way. Together we can explore how to motivate your child and set healthy boundaries that you can implement daily.

Adoption & Attachment Struggles

Sometimes children feel like they don’t belong with their families or feel like they look different. I can help your child develop their identity and support your family in cultivating a sense of belonging. Through positive engagement, I help children and parents strengthen their attachment. This includes helping adopted children feel more secure within their family dynamic. I like to use pretend play to help children develop better play skills that improve their relationships across the board.

Alli Benhaim takes her time, very thorough and compassionate. Highly recommend her! Am so impressed at her background and knowledge she brought forth. Grateful for your excellent work.

Anxiety & Sensory Integration Disorder

I can help your child relieve anxiety by expressing their feelings and developing a tool box of self-regulation skills and coping strategies. I also teach parents how to validate their children’s feelings. The tactile experience with the sand helps children regulate themselves.

Children & Trauma

Trauma is a challenging thing for both kids and adults to process. I have extensive training on how to guide children in relieving the pain and anxiety that comes from PTSD and trauma by using play therapy and Sandtray therapy. By experiencing their feelings in this context, I help children work through trauma with guidance, safety and wisdom.

Depression In Children

Expressing deep sadness is a really hard thing for kids to do. Does your child always see things through a negative perspective? I am here to help your child find their voice, feel heard/understood and speak their truth.

Grief and Loss in Children

I specialize in helping children cope with a variety of losses including death, a parent's divorce and adjusting to new environments. I offer a safe space that increases support and facilitates healing.
